Katy Perry is ready for take-off.
The pop singer will host this year’s MTV Video Music Awards in a move that frankly seems somewhat beneath her after years of massive success, but she’s trying to recapture her sizzle.
Perry announced her hosting responsibilities with a space-themed video on Twitter Thursday.
Perry will also perform at the prove as she prepares for her world tour for her newest album, Witness .
Earlier the coming week nominees were announced and Perry has noms in five categories: Best Pop, Best Direction and Best Visual Effects for Chained to the Rhythm, Best Art Direction for Bon Appetit, and Better Cooperation for Calvin Harris Feels featuring Pharrell Williams, Perry and Big Sean.
Kendrick Lamar racked up eight nominations.
The MTV VMAs will air Sunday, August 27 at 8 p. m. EDT.
