Elon Musk responds directly to frustrated Model 3 customers

Those Tesla Model 3 orderings are taking awhile, but at least the electric carmaker’s CEO Elon Musk is hold clients in the loop.

Over the weekend, Musk, who is apparently sleeping at the factory as he takes over production of the behind-schedule electric sedan, responded to a tweet about a dual-motor version. Musk said to expect the special dual-motor Model 3 configuration in July — the car company needs to focus on the basics firstly. The dual-motor design was divulged earlier this year.

With current Model 3 production apparently simply under 2,500 vehicles per week based on Bloomberg’s Tesla Model 3 Tracker , Musk replied “we need to achieve 5K/ week with example 3 before adding intricacy that would hinder make ramp.” So the company is about halfway there.

Others jump-start at the opportunity to have their Model 3 issues addressed by Musk himself. One girl asked about when white-hot benches would be available( also likely July, Musk replied ). A chorus sounded in about an unjust reservation structure.

Musk said he would be considered by it. By early Sunday morning he promised Tesla would “take corrective action immediately.” And he apologized.

A spokesperson replied Tesla didn’t have more information about the special Model 3s beyond Musk’s tweets.
